WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

All your money goes to help Earth Rhythms (www.earthrhythms.org/), the new nonprofit group formed to present Winter SolstiCelebration (www.moonlady.com/indexsols.html ) -- Dallas’ largest and longest running seasonal event, and second largest in the nation next to Paul Winter's in New York City.

Earth Rhythms faces some extraordinary start-up costs, many hundreds of dollars in fees to file for non-profit and tax-exempt status, and the usual expenses of starting up a business. But it’s what we’ve got to get the grants and sponsorships required to keep SolstiCelebration going.

The MOONLADY STORY

Over 2500 people connected by one luna-y lady: the Moonlady, otherwise known as writer Amy Martin. Her popular list serve, Moonlady News, showcases the cultural creative side of North Texas: holistic (yoga, meditation, body and energy work, nutrition, massage)… progressive causes (women’s rights, animals, environment, populist activism, peace)… non-mainstream spirituality (Buddhism, Unity, pagan, Unitarian, New Age, New Thought, interfaith)... philosophy and psychology... art and creative expression… eclectic performance and activities.

Moonlady News has it roots in the late 1990s when Amy Martin began collecting email addresses to send notices about her seasonal events, including the popular SolstiCelebrations. It was formalized into a list serve and has been on the YahooGroup system since April 2000. There are currently over 2500 members.

But it’s more than a list serve of cultural creatives. It’s a cyber community, what some have called the Moonlady Community. Members turn to the wisdom of the list for recommendations of everything from finding a good plumber... to techniques for naturally ridding the yard of fleas... to actions to help a person achieve a “good death.” The seeker compiles the replies and shares it with the list serve.

Moonlady Night is the first time the list serve has gathered in the flesh. The event is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Bath House Cultural Center at White Rock Lake. Several of Amy Martin’s seasonal and lunar events have been held at the surrounding park area.

More information about the list serve is available at
www.moonlady.com where those interested can click a link to join. Or at the YahooGroups site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MoonladyNews/
