Submitting a Notice

Submissions to Moonlady News are generally limited to members, but exceptions are made for charitable events and other worthwhile endeavors.

Please wait a week after joining the list to submit a notice. That way you can see how the headlines should look and get an idea of the desired length and tone of the emails.

If the notice is in the right format (see Easy 1-2-3 below), it will take 1 to3 days to be posted. You do not receive a notice of confirmation that your notice was received or that it will be posted. Please email the moderator if you don’t see your notice within 4 days.

If there is a problem with the notice, you will get a reply with instructions on how to fit it and resubmit.

PLEASE do not add the posting email address to your regular emailing list. It gets incredibly confusing. Send ONLY those notices you intend for Moonlady News. Please read Timing of Notices to see how often you can submit.

Easy 1-2-3

1. Make a complete subject line for your notice. You only have 3 seconds before someone decides whether to erase your email. Make your headline a good one!

~ Include date and day of week if an event. Do not include time or year.
~ Include city if not Dallas.
~
Do not use all capitals - or your notice will be rejected.

2. It’s best if you include your email address in your message, at the top of the notice for best effect. That way if your email is forwarded, your contact info is included.

3. Please: no large photos or elaborate graphics, and no attachments. Some folks are still on dialup. Also no forwards or illegible, cluttered emails.

Send your notice here. Or post through the web site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MoonladyNews/

Notices are sent out in the order they are received. It can take 2 to 4 days to be posted. Please send in dated notices at least 10 days before the event.

~ Make me ecstatic by perusing Amy’s Email Wisdom. Especially if you intend on submitting regularly. PLEASE!

Timing of Notices

Notices are run in the order they are received. The moderator is not able to run a notice on a specific date. Please submit event notices at least one week prior to the event.

Notices for services and shops are limited to once a month. Event notices must be spaced at least 2 weeks apart. If an event is having trouble getting attendance, I'll make some exceptions. You must resubmit a notice each time you want it run.

If it is a long event, such as a weekend or day-long workshop, you should submit a notice several weeks before and then again closer to the date.

Those hosting weekly events are suggested to submit notices once a month, perhaps every two weeks if the event is just getting off the ground.

What Costs, What Doesn’t

The fee for these notices to be delivered directly to the Moonlady News list is usually $5 per notice. However, if you pre-pay $20 for 4 notices, I'll throw in the 5th one free. You will be emailed an invoice when you submit the notice if it requires a fee. Members on the list fewer than 4 weeks must prepay for their notices. Payment can be made in cash, check or credit cards. More info at Money, Honey.

If you are not sure whether your notice will involve a fee, just ask me. If present finances make it hard for you to afford the $5 fee, let me know and we'll work something out.
